Default 5945 Gear Replacement

I have some slop in my 5945's, and I'm assuming that replacing the gears will fix this. Has anyone replaced the gears on a 5945, for $18, it's much more economical to that then to replace the servo.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

I've successfully replaced the gears on a couple of my 5945 servos. There's nothing complicated about it. I would recommend that you use a good grease (Lithium?) when you replace the gears. Hitec sells a small tube for this purpose.

Make sure you check the case top where the pin fits before you spend on gears as it has a tendency to get elongated making it a bit more costly.

Thanks for all the replies, I have a gear set coming and will try this out on my rudder servo, if all goes well I'll replace the remaining 4 gear sets as well.

Send it to Hitec and they will service it for $15.
If the case is bad they will usually take care of that for free.
I find that the center pin in the case coauses the case to be replaced about 40% of the time. (2 out of 5)

Thanks, I'll give my rudder servo a try since I already ordered the gear set, and send the other 4 in for service this fall after the flying season is up, allthough here in Georgia that never ends.
