RE: broken gear switch
if you send it to tower to fix it will cost you arround 50$
heres a cheaper way of DIY:
buy the switch and replaced your self
u can get the SW or a similar one at fry's,radioshak or any other elect component store.
or u can get it from this guy:

RE: broken gear switch
Hi,
Another vote for Radio South, heck maybe you can even drive over there to pick up a switch
They have the genuine replacement switches for your Tx, they'll sell you the switch or do it for you if you're not comfortable with that level of soldering.
Good luck,
pete

RE: broken gear switch
That is the problem. I don't want to try to fix it today and I need it sunday. The question is a PROGRAMMING question. The time it takes to send to radio south, fix, and get it back will not get me done by sunday. my only alternative is to go to the HS and buy a new transmitter. I an looking for a programming solution for the short term.

RE: broken gear switch
What you can do is negate that broken switch by doing a mix of Gear to Gear at negative 100% both directions, leaving the switch setting NULL.
Now do a second PMIX from Offset to Gear at positive 100% on switch A in the Up position, the third mix will need to be Offset to Gear at Negative 100% on switch in the Down position.
You may need to adjust these Up/Down rates depending on how your gear servo is set up.

RE: broken gear switch
the problem is you do not have access to gear +100 and -100 in the same pmix as the switch for gear is hard wired. Here is what worked
OK. Here is what I did.
1. PMIX-3
2. OFS to CH7
3. set to -100
4. LINK to OFF
4. SW-A to up
step 2
1. PMIX-4
2. OFS to CH7
3. set to +100
4. LINK to OFF
5. SW-A to DOWN
I used a Y cable for ch7 with my battery meter and gear servo. If ch7 were not used I could have just moved my gear servo to ch 7. You can file this in case anyone ever asks the same question Phil Reuman

RE: broken gear switch
You can't get a switch for that radio from Radio Shack. You have to get it from Futaba or Radio South.
Its not an easy soldering job. I would not recommend it if you are not used to working in circuit boards.

RE: broken gear switch
I plan to send it to radio south as soon as my other 8uaf gets back from them. I would like to find a ch 50 transmitter chip so I have a quick backup without changing models. maybe radio south will have one.
