Default dx7.. 1024 or 2048 resolution?

is dx7 1024 or 2048 resolution?
and if it is 1024. what difference does it make.. what would make a 2048 system better?
since it seems like that the dx7 is getting lower latency than the 14mz when its using the g3 reseiver.(it gets lower time from the sticks is moved to the servoes has made the travel)
so .. does it have anything usefull at 2048 then? if dx7 is 1024?

The difference is the stick throw is divided into 1024 (10 bit) or 2048 (11bit) separate steps, then digitally encoded. I'm not sure what the stick resolution on the dx is but you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in a practical sense.

Same with the "latency issue"

Unless you are a very gifted pilot.

On a rip snortin wail n flail helicopter --the guys who are really blessed with flying fingers -- will say that you can't get fast enough - but on a fixed wing - the DX7 1024 setup is -with really snappy servos-- soooo good I don't think I could tell the difference 1024 0r 2048
now then- latency and the DX7 setup -
when you equip a model for aerobatics and use dual elevators -- the DX7 is second to NONE on matched servo movement. and response times are also better than anything else I have ever flown --and yeh you can tell the difference - easily
On some setups I am sure the improvement would not be noticable as the model /servo/ throws etc., are often not such that rapid response is noticable.

Well it depends; on who you ask and when you ask them. When Futaba first released the 2048 resolution, all of the JR fans were saying that it was useless. No one could tell the difference; servo slop was greater than the 2048 resolution; yadda; yadda; yadda. But now that Spektrum/JR has announced 2048 none of the earlier discounting of it has been mentioned... Not a peep.

According to JKOS, the 14MZ is a bit faster than the DX7. See his results [link=http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t172571p1/]here[/link].

As is the Airtronics Stylus which is a more than 10 year old design. And the answer to your question is it is supposed to be 1024. There have been a couple of reports of Spektrum team pilots flying an upgraded DX7 with the 9ch Rxs that does have 2048 resolution, as does the X9303 with the 9ch Rx. I do agree with dick on one point, most setups you will never notice. However on a 3D heli or a hardcore 3D plane with fast servos definitely. Skill also plays a large factor in that. I think that it would actually do more to increase the frame rate than it would to reduce latency or increase resolution. Going from 50Hz to 100Hz which means the servos get updated twice as often you would definitely notice. Especially considering in many applications only half of the channels are updated with each frame.
