Default JR and Spektrum

What is the business relationship between these two? Are they the same company? If so, why the jr x9303 and not a 9 channel spektrum? I would appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance

Spektrum is owned by Horizon and is American.... JR is a Japanese company.... Horizon is probably JR's biggest customer and with the historical relationship between JR & HH, Horizon/Spektrum asked JR to re-release a suitable radio for use with the Spektrum RF pcb. Hence the 662 being revamped and sold (with the Spektrum pcb) as the DX6. The DX7 was then released ( a modified 7202/2710 ).

As JR wasn't able to develop and market their own 2.4 GHz system due to reasons beyong their control, JR & HH/Spektrum went into talks about manufacturing JR radios with the Spektrum RF system.

An agreement was made between HH/Spektrum & JR that any system of 9 channels or more would be branded JR Radio... everything else (including the RF Modules) would be branded as Spektrum.

We will likely never know why JR didnt want to market there own 2.4GHZ
system. They make the entire radio including the 2.4 part. Horizon says
they designed the 2.4 part of the radio and hold the rights to the design.

It only stands to reason that JR has the ability to develop and make
a 2.4GHZ system, IMO I dont think they wanted to market such a
system just yet.

Thanks for the great replies. Once upon a time I flew Futaba, but the 7c 2.4 (due out when?) doesn't do dual elevator. I began to look at other models and noticed some strong similarities!! So Horizon developed Spektrum and JR makes them - interesting.

Thanks again

You can get a Futaba 9C and install a 2.4GHZ module you have a choice
of Futaba or Spektrum modules and also XPS.

ira d,

IMO I dont think they wanted to market such a system just yet.
They were going to show a fully functional system at Nuremberg 2007 but due to a "slight" legal technicality they were not able to proceed with their plans, and had to cancel their design.
