I just want a standard receiver
I just want a standard size receiver for my plane. I want a no frills reciever for my Futaba radio. Everything I look at is micro this or @#*&!%% that. The receiver that came with my radio 1 year ago seems to be discontinued. Futaba # R127DF. Is it just me or am I missing something here????

RE: I just want a standard receiver
The Hitec 8 channel Supreme is FM only, autoshift and is presently priced at 39.99 at Tower. It's compatible with your Futaba. Seems to be a pretty good buy.

weathervane,

Take a look at these. I have several FS-8s and they work extremely well. No experience with the others, but they are probably fine. And, they are just up the road.

You will find no better deal on a reliable negative shift Rx, bomb proof as they come than here for thirty bucks and an extra eight for the crystal.

RE: I just want a standard receiver
The radio operates on a basic carrier frequency. Every time a radio sends out a pulse the frequency is "shifted" 5 KHz away from that carrier freq. Some brands move 5 KHz above (Pos) and some move 5 KHz below (Neg) the carrier. RX's can only detect the signal they are manufactured to detect. Exception is some that can be programmed or have auto shift detection/selection. A few TX's can also be switched to either. All 2.4 GHz systems have no shift factors.

RE: I just want a standard receiver
The Tower Hobbies 8 channel receiver is compatible with Futaba and costs $44.99 with crystal.

This receiver 'appears' to be a Futaba R168DF with a different label.
I've seen the explanation Bruce provided on 'shift' but still do not fully understand it. It's not really important to me to understand it. I know that Futaba transmitters sold in the US are negative shift and that I need receivers that are negative shift (or selectable shift).

I tried to make it as basic as I could. Try this and be sure to read under "applications".

RE: I just want a standard receiver
Hey all, very good info, lots of things i didnt know. I have a question about the battery plugin slot in the receiver,? does the battery have to be plugged into the b slot or can it be plugged into a spare channel not in use? I was wanting to use the channel 5 for the battery and use the channel 6/b for the 2nd alieron, Thanks for your help. Dennis

All the power pins in a rx use a common power buss. Which means all the ports are internally connected for the plus and minus power.
As Carrellh already indicated the answer to your question is yes you can imput the power lead in any avaliable port.
In some Rx's to utilize all the avaliable channels there is no dedicated power port so the technique is to use a Y chord plugged to the rx and that servo for whatever function is plugged to one lead of the Y chord and the power from the switch harness is plugged to the other lead of the Y chord.

The R127DF is Futaba's replacement for your discontinued RX. It is also NOT HI/LO sensitive.

RE: I just want a standard receiver
Denis,
Try the Corona RD620, small, dual conversion, six channel, auto shift (means it will work with Futaba or JR), use a GWS or HiTec crystal. I believe it has a DSP built in and thus does a better job of receiving your signal and getting ti process and sent to the servos. Oh, and it cost a lot less than a Futaba or a HiTec receiver.
Need eight channels use the RD820.
Cheers,
Chip

Bruce,I have 4-R127DF receivers. I was under the impression the ones with a dot on the board (where you plug in the crystal) were hi band and without dot were low band. I actually gave away two because they were both low band (17) and I use high band(channel 39).. DOH!!!! best Regards, TJ
