Default Question about JR radios

Just bought a used JR SX600, just tx with no receiver. It's a different channel than my old JR. Is it okay to switch out the crystal that was in the back of my old JR radio and put it in the SX600 to match the frequency of my existing receiver? Someone once told me that you could switch out the crystals in JR receivers but not JR transmitters...

Thanks,
Rod

Default RE: Question about JR radios

It is illegal, per FCC rules, in the US, to change the channel on a crystal based transmitter, without an FCC certification, and a re-tune of the transmitter. This is because the frequencies between the r/c channels are allocated to other users, and can be interfered with if the transmitter is not re-tuned.
