Dymond Modelsport LTD has a 6 channel dual conversion receiver for $27 and the crystal is $6. So $33 + shipping ant bad. I just ordered one and should have it by the end of the week. I’ll report back after I get it and check it out.

[link]http://www.hobbycity.com[/link] has the GWS 8 channel dual conversion for $25 + a couple bucks for the crystal. I just put one in a Sig King Kobra. It has never glitched, even at a field known for being full of radio hits.

There are a lot of Futaba 127DF 7-channel receivers out there on eBay and RCU classifieds. They are great receivers and with so many people changing to 2.4Ghz, these are a good buy. I know, I have several in my drawer now as I transition to 2.4Ghz. I used them and never had a glitch with a single one.

Go with the LightFlight receiver -- they are the *best* value dual conversion receiver son the market *AND* they're backed up by the best support and customer service in the business. Dave from LFRC will make sure you're 100% satisfied with your receiver(s) and I've been totally impressed.
The LFRC receivers have better range than Futaba and GWS plus they have DSP which does a damned good job of rejecting some forms of interference (something few competing brands offer).
Note that I'm not associated with LFRC in any way other than being a 100% satisfied customer from way down in New Zealand.

I can vouch for the GWS RD8SL. I bought three of them from United Hobbies/Hobby City for $24.99 each plus $3.99 for each dual conversion GWS crystal. The receiver is 8-channel and is shift selectable so it can be used with Airtronics/JR or Futaba/Tower transmitters on 72Mhz.
I certainly won't hesitate to buy more of these excellent receivers. Two receivers and two crystals work out to be just the right weight for $5 express shipping from Hong Kong.

Thanx for the update. I am keeping an eye on the Dymond 6 ch but posting a notice on my club website that I am interested in a micro receiver. Dr Benz had a good idea on that. Perhaps someone converting to 2.4 will have some extra laying about.
I am puting it in a new old stock Sportsman Aviation "Aero Princess" that I purchased for my 9 yr old princess for Christmas. She found it in the clearance rack at our LHS and asked repeatedly for it on multiple visits. How could I say no? What great father daughter bonding time.
