Any way to extend my range?
I bought one of those little tiny RC cars that you charge up in just a few seconds off the controller. I plan on taking it apart, and using it to control a relay. Is there any way for me to increase the range on it? Right now it probably gets 20 feet or so...

Yes.
You can try to add a power amplifier on the transmitter right before the antenna, but you'll need to learn to match impedances. You will also need to check out FCC regulations depending on your frequency. Maxim makes a module that you can request a sample of from their website.
However, I suggest you look into wireless tx / rx modules and roll your own solution. Check out www.rentron.com for ideas and schematics and laipac.com for price comparison. Both companies sell modules which interface nicely with Holtek encoders / decoders and will allow you to easily pass 4 to 8 bits or more of data over a range of 300 to 500 feet. You can use a power amp here and boost it 6x to 7x.
