boost/buff extension
I fly several big birds, one Quadra 72, two Quadra 41, one
Quadra 35 (all with magnetos) and one 3.2 Cu. In. with electronic ignition. I am using plain old PWM (what many call FM), 4.8 volts and no buffers or amps. I do make up my own extension and use 22 gauge wire with GOOD connectors. So far, never a problem.
twisting the servo leads won't hurt and can help under some rare conditions but I have never found it necessary. The main thing is make sure that the radio and electronics are well seperated from the engine compartment and that you use a non conductive throttle push rod (nyrod works well here) and have no metal to metal connections that can vibrate. Keep all your kill switch wireing in front of the firewall if at all possible and, if using electronic ignition, keep the electronic module and its battery seperated from the radio electronics as much as possible. Make sure to do a range check with the engine running and fix any interferance problems that might turn up when doing that. Do your range check at all throttle settings.
