Default 12FG battery alternative

Anybody using a two cell lithium battery in their 12FG? I can't seem to find anyone that has something that will fit. Thanks.

The first thing I did when I got my 12FG was install two Li-ion cells. Works like a charm end to end. Much lighter than the nimh pack.

Now that I have the 2.4 module, very light and well balanced.

Marty have you considered a 2700nimh pack? I'm not terribly fond of my Lithium packs in my 14.

Ryan,
I haven't considered a 2700ma ni-mh pack but I would. Does anyone make a six cell 2700ma pack that would fit? The stock pack is 1700ma I believe and it just fits. Do they make 2700ma cells in that size?

You can check with No BS Batteries, they have a 12FG pack but I'm not sure if it's the full 2700 capacity.

Ryan, Thanks. I've been looking for a day or so and forgot to check NoBs batteries. I've bought quite a few packs from Steve and have always been satisfied. They sell a 2000ma and a 2700ma but the 2700 is intolerant of fast or overcharging. Might go with the 2000. Thanks.

I have the same packs in my 12z and so far I like them much better than NiMH or NiCd. What are your issues with the LiIon batts in your 14MZ?

They don't last very long and I can't use a standard RC charger lead to charge them. I also can't fast charge them. I bought my radio used so the packs may have been abused with its previous owner. $90 for a replacement too....ouch. I might try out the Fromeco pack and tray, which has more capacity than the Futaba/Sony battery, is cheaper, and I can charge the pack with my Ion Cube charger.
