Default futaba fp-5uap transmitter

I need to know anything and everything about this transmitter. Where to get a module, how the pcm and ppm work. How to install a reciever with the transmitter. Do I need the module to activate a reciever in ppm mode, and do I need a crystal for it. Please any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Download the manual from www.futabarc.com

you can purchase modules for it, it is the same module as the 8U and 9C. one module operates for both modulation types, PPM and PCM.

there is not a separate crystal for you to change (there is but youre not allowed to change it) in the TX, you change modules to change channels.

Thanks AnnMarie, big help. I see your into horses. Keep up the work with them. I wish I had a horse of my own to ride again. It's been almost 12 years since last I had one. Keep saving those horses.

Default 5uap

I have a manual I can copy for you if you are unable to download.
that radio had 3 versions-an Am a FM and one that was 1024PPM.
All of the take the AM or the FM modules created for the 5u,7u,8u and the current 9CAP.
I sent you a seperate e-mail about these. They are great radios especially since the module allows you to change channels.

My father in law sent me a new-in-box FP-5UAP PCM FM radio that he has had for years.
Anybody familair with this radio?
Just wondered if it is worth using. I am a new "intermiediate" flier and have been using a
Futaba 6EXA.
My hangar is rapidly outgrowing that radio's model memory and it is about time for a second
radio.
Any info is helpful.

Thanks

Crash, this is a very nice, basic computer radio. If it's brand new, charge it up and use it! (the batteries might need replacement.) If its not brand new or you're not sure, I'd suggest sending it for a service check up.

If you were looking to buy, I would steer you toward something with multiple model memory and newer features; however, since you have the 5U, by all means I'd use it!

Cassidy,
You would send it to the US service center in Illinois and ask them to do a check up on it. Let them know everything you know about it. You can find more info at www.futabarc.com
