Default JR R921 Receiver Voltage

Pardon my ignorance, but this is my first 2.4 setup.
The manual states the voltage range for the R921 at 3.5~9.6.

Is this to say that this receiver can be used with a 7.2v unregulated LiPo?

Thanks
Bob

You still need to stay within the servo voltage limits. The R921 doesn't adjust the voltage down to the 4.8 or 6.0 volts that most servos specify. There are some servos that are only rated for 4.8V , not 6 volts. You would need to check the servo specs for their voltage range.

Yes the power bus on the receiver will take it, the servos will be another story though.

I have friends using that Rx and the JR8711 servos. Ungodly speeds on the servos at 8.4v (fully charged 2cell LiPo)

Hi!
But Horizon only recommends 6V for those servos! But! I have myself used 5 JR 8711 servos with (Hi-models) LIFEPo 6,4V, 2000mAh cells during the last season and all have worked real well.

I do not know what Horizon recommends, for the 8711, as I do not have any, but competition flyers I know say they are using these servos at 8.4 volts

Some of the helicopter guys are doing it too. Infact one of the receivers has unregulated output for the swashplate servos and regulated for the tail and throttle servo.

My personal opinion is these "top competition" pilots that are doing it are getting free servos so they can afford to, but they are also of a skill level to tell the difference. Most of us are better off letting our servos last longer.
