Move over 9C??? Did you notice the $680 price tag? I don't see this radio stealing anyone away from a 9C purchase. JR guys will sure eat it up though.

9C with std servos and PCM reciver is $450 from Tower
The 9X (Asia/CyberHeli version) comes with PCM receiver and 4 S8301 Digital Servos (retail is $85-$90 each) which is $60+ more than standard servos (The 9C servos are cheap $20 std servos). so 4x$60 =$240 more just for the servos!
So pricing-wise, it looks to be similar to the 9C, if you were to outfit a 9C with comparable DIGITAL SERVOS.
And yes, digital servos are $$ but use 'em and you'll be hooked
Hopefully when Horizon finally brings it in, they will offer a similar Promo package as the 8103 or even just the xmit alone.

Flyfalcons,
Since the screen shot are from CyberHeli, the setup are shown for heli flyers - check out page 53 of the 9C manual - the 9C also has THREE mixers in Heli mode, of which only one is multi-point - the 'older' 8103 in heli mode already has 2 of its 3 mixers multi-point fwiw, so it should be a taken that at leat 2 of 3 9X heli mixers would be multi-point also.
Also, the 9C pitch/throttle curves are only 5 points, whereas the 9X are 7 points. Interestingly there is no 140 degree CCPM for the CS Vigors; guess they (JR) still want you to buy only the 10X if you want to fly, Curtis style.
Then again, all of this is moot (mixer capability) compared to say, somthing like the Multiplex 4000
If JR/Horizon decides to bring in the 9X in the 12 channel version per Graupner/JR specs, it should a pretty interesting radio ... except that they'd have to change the name to 12X?

.
most people that upgrade their radios already have servos and rx's anyway. don't know why they offer the "whole nine yards" anyway with the tx's. new fliers don't normally buy these radios either. i upgraded from 8u and bought a 9c for 250.00.....very nice and quite a improvement from the 8u.

If you head over to Tower, fwiw the "official" Futaba outlet (GP), the 9C is not offered in transmitter alone versions. Same with JR/Horizon - still, other sellers do seem to offer the 9C in Xmit only packages (and all of Hitec, Airtronics), but not JR's ... strange.

Thanks for the reminder ... forgot about JR's flex-equipt; only thing left is if they'd reduce the "cutomization" charge, and allow removal of components.

You can buy the JR 10X, and the 8103 as a Transmitter Only option from Horizon. The 10X still comes with its fancy case and manual, the 8103 with just a manual. This is ideal for folks who have plenty of flght packs already. I don't know if any other JR transmitters are available this way. You may not be able to order this way with the dumb Horizon website. You would have to call their Catalog department or have the LHS do it for you.

Technically speaking, yes you can by the Tx only. But at a price of $400 for the 8103 Tx and module , it is a really discouraging deal when you compare it with the radio bundle (Tx, Rx, bat and four servos) that costs $470.
I really don't understand the JR pricing strategy here. It really makes you look elsewhere when you want only a Tx upgrade. I bought a NIB 8103 from Ebay for $270 shipped.
This obviously has some risks, but it came out to be a good deal.

Just fwiw most NIB 8103 should be in the $220 range imo - you can now (since last Nov) get a 8103 Promo pack for $380 shipped that includes a R700($80) RX and 4x DS811 DIGITAL servos ($48 each) or what I did was sell the flt pack for $175, in effect making a NIB 8103 $205

I waited and waited and decided that
the 9X isn't enough of a jump from
the old analog 8103 I have and the 10X
just doesnt compare to the 9Z for the
saem price (although it would appear that
the 10X has a better build feeling).
Ain't no way you're going to get the
9X w/ Graupner s/w in the USA unless
it comes in 'under radar'.
I bite the bullet and went 9Z.
The 9X appears to be too little, too late,
too expensive.

Actually if you price out CyberHeli's 9X with digital servos and compare with 9C pricing at Tower with Standard Servo (there is no digital package), the 9X is a couple dollars cheaper than the 9C. Hopefully Horizon/JR can come to their sense and offer the 9X in a similar "promo" pack as the 8103.
