Default Radio/receiver question (newbie)

Hi, I purcased an old Associated RC 10 electric buggy off eBay, no radio or receiver. My question is can I purchase any radio receiver combo w/servos and will it work on this buggy. I've seen some Traxxas radio/receiver combos at eBay that are reasonable. Will these work? Will a radio/receiver that came out of a gas truck work? I'm new so have a laugh on me, but I could really use some help in understanding what I need to do.
Thanks,
Gary

What it comes down to is: First - Is the Tx/Rx on the frequencies designated for Ground use ( Do not use 72Mhz) - Second - Does the Rx have enough channels for your model - Third - Is the Rx small enough to fit in your model? You should be able to use any Rx that meets that criteria.

Thanks!!

I am an aircraft guy and not a car guy so if I missed something, someone else can chime in.
