I'm using Futaba 3PM 2.4 for more than a year, with no issues at all.

any 2 or 3 ch receiver will give alot more range than across the street. have you inspected your rx antenna wire at the rx end ?

It is most probably a bad receiver, could be crystal (there are two of them in the receiver, on plugin and one soldered in and either could be cracked if you ever jarred the receiver hard), antenna lose or broken inside insulation or a damage IF coil. Can you try a different receiver on the same channel?

Your comments are most probably a joke but; just in case you are serious, the antenna end at the receiver has to be soldered to the proper land on the PC board. If it was loose and you stuffed it somewhere, you have a problem.
