Default Frequency Question

In a product guide for a Microsoft Keyboard, there is mention of 27MHz usage for wireless devices.
27.095 and 27.195 are listed, and I have an old MRC radio on 27.095

Didn't the FCC allocate these frequencies for RC use only?

Appreciate any thoughts about this. Thank you!

If memory serves me right, there were a block of channels set asside in the 24mhz Citizens Band for RC use. However, when the 72mhz band came into being, those exclusive channels were released for general use, but could still be used for RC if you wanted to take the chance.

This was quite a while back, and I had dropped out of RC when the 72mhz band came about. I could be wrong on my explanination.

Maybe you can use your RC transmitter to play tricks on whoever is using the keyboard?

I will try that! See what kind of sentence gets typed if I input a 16 point roll!

This reminds me why we left 27mhz. The truckers with their 1KW RFamps would wipe out every channel when they keyed the mic. Then the guys that liked to pull up near the field and "scan the channels" to see what damage they could cause.

Yep...that was a problem!
Another example is the MRC F-710 I have is on 27.095 which is right in between CB channel 11 (27.085) and channel 12 (27.105).

The rf output for a wireless keyboard/other device has to be strong enough to cover a range all of what...6 feet maybe more? I am not sure, but most probably it is not as far as we need for models. Therefore, interference is not an issue nor is interference why I began this posting.

Still, however, I don't recall any of the six 27MHz RC frequencies being released for any other type of use.
