New Futaba 8FGA & 8FGH 2.4Ghz Air Radios
Tower has pictures of a new 2.4Ghz FHSS 8-channel Futaba radio system due out later this year, but not a lot of details:

Yeah,
The programming logic and menu system is very much like the 12FG.
It should be a more capable radio than the 10C in terms of mixing etc.

Futaba got to do something about the price of receivers, $100 per receiver is outrages.
I'll be looking into a new radio this november and seriously considering Hitec aurora 9, though i'm not %100 on that one either.

Well, there is the 6004FF at $50 and then two new 6 channel mini RXs (use normal plugs) at $60 and $70 (6106HF & 6106HFC).

That's 50 bucks, not 60 for the R6004FF[8D]
I have one on my Slow Stick, nice little receiver with more than enough range for any "parky"
Cheers,
Pete

RE: New Futaba 8FGA & 8FGH 2.4Ghz Air Radios
Im going to take close look at the 8FGA when it becomes available. This would be my first 2.4 setup.
I don't really like buying a new model too soon just in case there are some bugs to work out.
I agree the cost of the receivers is too high, which is really what has kept me out of the 2.4 systems thus far.
I might get the 8FGA just to use with my really really special planes.

RE: New Futaba 8FGA & 8FGH 2.4Ghz Air Radios
Doug thanks for the photos.
I have a better idea what the 8FGA looks like and how it compares in size to the 10c
It seems to be missing a few features compared to the 10C. But then again its about 200 hundred dollars less.
To me after looking at the photos its still a pretty strong candidate to purchase when available.
I think the minimum battery for a transmitter should be 1000 mah. Ive never understood why Futaba has made a 600 or 700 mah battery standard with many of there radios.

Hi Zero244,
Just a little off the top, but not too much ( I can't understand why my barber cracks up when I request that)
As best I can see it has one less variable knob, one less timer[&o] and for a deal breaker, no CamPac (only kidding)
Hey, 1700mAh battery included[8D] and for those that fly Lipo on a daily basis, compatible with a 2S Lipo.
Cheers,
Pete

Manual is now available from Futaba, http://futaba-rc.com/manuals/index.html, to me this radio is about as good as the 12FG.

Hey thanks for the 8fg manual heads up Doug.
Hey Doug do you have a 12fg.? Is the 12fg intuitive to program in your opinion.
I haven't counted the pages on the 8fg manual but its a few.
If I am not mistaken you cannot upgrade the 10c firmware........but you can on the 8fg.????
I like the simple clean lines of the 8fg. It kind of has a Evo look.
And I prefer the mostly black case over the flashy chrome look too.
The 8fg is very slim in comparison to the 10c and the 10g.

RE: New Futaba 8FGA & 8FGH 2.4Ghz Air Radios
Hi Zero,
Yes I own a 12FG and I can say that it is easy to setup. When I got the radio the first thing I did was spend 3 hours with a few servos on the bench. Let me tell you, those were the best 3 hours spent because I learned a lot about the radio.
No, the 10C is not capable of been updated at home, but you can with the 8FG.
My opinion is that the 8FG is way more advanced than the 10C.
I like the 8FG manual, looks better than that of the 12FG.
Regards,
Doug.

RE: New Futaba 8FGA & 8FGH 2.4Ghz Air Radios
Been holding off on 2.4 becasue I have 24 FM or PCM receivers, but this radio is getting close to my price point. $480 less $60 for Tower members and I am in for $420 with a radio with pretty good features. Have a 9C and a 7C and like them both. What we need now is a reciever exchange program, like they did with narrow band in 91, send in a 7 channel FM get a 7 channel 2.4 back for $30, send in an 8 channel FM get a 8 channel 2.4 back for $40 etc. Then they would sell some new TX!!!

Ive spent several hundred dollars at Tower this year..........maybe I should consider joining up.

Yes as a member you get emails that offer discounts on order value, max is $60 off a $300 order. Nice part is if you want $600+ of stuff place 2 orders a day or so apart and get $60 off each. Don't know if this will continue once the economy picks up, but they have had these offers for quite awhile now to club members.
