Default Is anyone else having trouble with new feather weight recievers?

I've bought several feather weight recievers for parkflyers, and they seem to have like a 50/50 rate of being bad right out of the box. I bought a GWS set, and it worked fine. Then I bought another one, and the receiver doesn't respond to any inputs. Finally, I purchased a Hitec feather receiver, and the same problem occured. Everything was double checked before being hooked up, all batteries charged, and the correct crystal/channel was purchased and installed correctly. Still, both of the last two receivers are junk. Are these receivers inherently prone to premature failure?

I've had ~10 GWS R4 and R6 RX's and one HiTec Feather w/o any problems; would ditch the Feather though as performance is attrocious (range, glitch).

Only time my GWS glitches is when the tx is off. Other than that it is solid.

You might look at the FMA micro dual conversion. Looks interesting.

make sure the reciever is negative shift or positive shift. I cant remember which is which, but one works with fut and hitec and the other works with air and jr. This might be your problem. Simply ahving the right frequency doesnt mean it will work with any radio.

Yeah, that FMA one looks promising. I returned the Hitec, and the new FMA dual band micro just arrived. It works! What a nice surprise. Hopefully, it lives up to the claims of not being so range limited like the other park flyer receivers. We shall see....

fwiw - GWS R4 and R6 has been pretty good to me, even with 4 other planes in the air (some 2 channel away); Hitec feather, as mentioned gets swamped when there's another TX around.

As for a much (much) better alternative, take a look at Berg receivers - both the 4 and 5 channels have been extremely rock solid for me (regularly speck out my 1.2 to 2m gliders with the Berg 5, and with many other planes in the air).

Default FMA

My FMA works well inside a building with at least six other radios operating. It can be used in park flyers up to giant scale.

I doubt you'll have a problem with range with the FMA. It really isn't a "Park Flyer" receiver. It just happens to be a very small receiver designed for all types of flying.

Good luck.
