Default Antenna Repair/Splicing

Somehow a significant length of Antenna(72MHz) was cut off on one of my Planes, can I soder splice/heat shrink a piece of antenna wire to make up the proper length or do I have to replace the entire Antenna?

Splice or replace, it doesn't matter.

For a 72MHz antenna, the 1/4 wavelength is 39 inches

A good source of antenna wire is a single conductor taken from the cable attached to an old mouse. I have replaced no less then 6 this way the past year or so.

Which begs to ask the question: Why are you ripping so many antennas out???

Guy's have been unloading there good J.R. stuff (72mhz) My 10X came from turbine use with 3 10ch receivers all addapted to deans type antenna's. Another purchase came from a heli pilot included 9 receivers, He used his 649's with deans type antennas aswell. And 1 I pinched in the adjustable towhook in my 147" Glider. Up in Alberta 72mhz is still strong out on the farmland.
