Default AR500 2.4 question

Ok I know that this is a sport rx but
has anyone had experiance puting this rx in
a high speed plane? I'd lime to put one In
my diamond dust. I'm new to the 2.4 and I
have no idea if I'm being too cautious or
if i'm right to wonder about this.

Don't do it. I put one in a Nelson powered 428 and just about did not get the plane back. I was running 7.4 Lipo with a regulator to 6v. I was flying the course from pylon 3 to 1 when all of a sudden no control. It flew so far out I could barely see it. I was holding full up when all of a sudden I had control again, seamed like 10 sec or so, but when your flying at 150 mph, that's a long time. I have since replaced the AR500 with the AR6000 and have had no problems. Keep the AR500 for your slow electric park flyers.

Doug - do you mean AR6200 by any chance? The AR6000 is a park-flier only receiver, DSM instead of DSM2.

I've used the AR500 in a Thunder tiger powered Q500 for quite a few flights, had no issues until the one I caused by flying the plane into the ground...

Most of my race planes have AR7000 receivers in them, though. Having that satellite receiver gives me a little peace of mind. I also run 5 cell NiCd (not NiMh) packs in mine.

Ok thanks Doug. I have the JR 9503
but I think I'll keep that rx for my less speedy
planes.

Speed alone has nothing to do with receiver choice.

I am using the AR500 on several of my planes and have never had any problems. One of them is a Hangar9 120 sizeSundowner with a Moki 210. That plane is way fast and have never had any problems. I would check with Horizon to see what they say. Good luck..
