Is this Futaba 7C price TOO GOOD to be true?
Greetings, has anyone ordered from Tom's RC? This price seems to be too good to be true..... $119 for a Futaba 7C, 2.4 G transmitter. No rx or servos for that price of course.

Thanks,
Ernie

I've seen them mentioned but cannot remember if it was good or bad.
I "assume" they buy complete radio systems and part them out. Customer gets a decent deal. They probably make more by selling individual items than they would by selling 'systems.'

If it was me, I'd make up a small order of things I need that is in their online catalog. See how they handle that before commiting to a large expenditure. They are based in Calif, so I would think that quite a few forum members are famillar with them.

Thanks guys. Bruckner's Hobbies is another place where you can buy the tx only and I've bought a couple from them before. What is puzzling me though is that at Bruckners, just the 7C is $160 or so. HOW can it possibly be $119 at Tom's RC..... I'm off to look for a phone number for Tom's and give them a call.

I know they deliver the product when ordered. My buddy ordered some Hitec 2.4 stuff and he got it right about the time it was estimated to come in.

why not just go ahead and order it on your credit card, keep good records. if there is a problem, and Tom's wont resolve it, just dispute the charge with your credit card company. If they really do wrong, and you keep good records, your credit card company will go to bat for you.

I've bought from Tom's many times. They have an impeccable reputation on Ebay almost 50 thousand feedback 99.5 positive. So they're not a fly-by-night outfit. Check them out under the Ebay user name( tt_7)

Okay.... I will order the 7C and use PayPal! Not sure why the 6EX would be more expensive but the 7C is more versitle anyway and it has support for dual elevators whereas the non 2.4G 7C did not.
Thanks for the great input.... oh, the 2nd receiver for $10 deal from Futaba ends April 26th I believe so not too much time to go on that now....

using paypal is not the same as paying directly with your credit card. When you pay with Paypal you are stuck trying to resolve your issue using paypal, not your credit card company. I would not advise using paypal with a company you don't trust. Your credit card company will go to bat for you, paypal will not and you will be very hard pressed to get a person on the phone at paypal.

Consider that the Optic 6 2.4, which is easily as powerful as the 7C, can be had from the same source for $199.99 with TWO receivers, and with the current offer from Hitec http://www.hitecrcd.com/about/compan...al-offers.html you can get an additional 6 channel RX free! So therefore $199.99 gets you a comparable radio with THREE 2.4ghz receivers.

It would be Tom's that would offer the second receiver anyway....
From the Futaba website...
http://www.futaba-rc.com/promos/fut-receiver-promo.html
*This offer is available only at participating hobby retailers in the U.S. and Canada from February 1 through April 30, 2010, or while supplies last. This is not a rebate offer and it is not retroactive. You will receive your $10 receiver at the point of sale. There are no substitutions.

$129.99 for a 7C TX/RX would be a screaming deal then... However, add the two pack of RX's for $149.99 and you're still shelling out $80 more than for the Optic with the same RX count. You can also get an additional 6CH RX through the coupon offer for $40, so that's $240 for the Optic 6 with FOUR RX's!

Tom's sounds totally trustworthy so I placed the order for the 7C and 2 rx's, plus a couple of HS 645MG servos while I was at it.
Thanks for the info guys!

Sure will let ya know if there is any problem. Shouldn't be though. It was shipped the very next morning from CA and I'm on the west coast too..... Can't beat the $3 shipping from Toms either.
