Default mixing servos, Futaba and JR and wiring

I just purchased an airplane from a friend at the flying field.... after I got home I realized that the servos and wiring were JR, with the same color codes... dark, med and light color... Are these compatabile with Futaba in the black, red and white? is there a problem if I mix these JR with Futaba using a futaba receiver.... I understand that JR use to be different wiring patterns from Futaba ... Airtronics is now Universal connectors.... is this the same for JR... ?

Thanks.. Richard

Almost all modern servos are cross-compatible.  I use a mix of JR, Airtronics, Futaba, and Hitec servos.

That is good to hear on the servos.... are receivers still required to be the same brand like JR receiver for JR Transmitter? I use Hitec and Futaba receivers with my Futaba transmitter and that seems to be ok...?

Depends on what you're talking about.

2.4 is proprietary. So is PCM.

PPM is a little different, there's either Futaba (negative shift) or JR (Positive shift) compatable recievers, there's also some that are selectable and a few that autodetect the keying direction.

If you have a Futaba radio and a hitec negative shift reciever it will work. A JR reciever won't work with most (all but the high end) Futaba transmitters and vice versa.

On JR just remember that brown wire = black wire

Nice thing about servos is if they are plugged up backwards they just dont work. No magic smoke comes out.
