Futaba 7C 2.4 flaps set up

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set up the flaps with a Y and using 2 different channels? I have tried everything and can't. The Y I thought can be connected with the battery. The plane has retracts, ailerons and flaps so I'm using every hole in the RX., Thanks

It would help if you tell us what model you are putting the radio in.

With a DX7, you have Throttle on Ch1, Ailerons on Ch2, Elevator on Ch3, Rudder on Ch4, Retracts on Ch5, Flaps on Ch6, and an extra channel called Aux2 Ch7. You could use a Y Harness for Dual Ailerons and a Y Harness for Dual Flaps. If you wish to use a separate channel for each Flap servo, you can connect the Right Flap to Ch6 and the Left Flap to Ch7. You then need to pick a Programmable Mix, usually PMix 5 or 6, and set Ch6 as the Master and Ch7 as the Slave. Use minor amounts of SubTrim to get the Flaps parallel and use Travel Adjust to set the limits for Full Down Flap.

Make sure Flap System is enabled. You can set the Percent Deflection and enable Elevator Coupling, Up or Down, if necessary, for Mid or Full Flap.

You can set up the flaps with two different channels/slots in the receiver if you want to be able to independently set the EPA, subtrim, etc for each flap. If you need all the slots in the receiver , yes you can use a Y to connect the battery to the receiver via any of the slots in the receiver. Or you can connect the two flap servos by a Y connector into just one slot in the receiver. In this case you have to mechanically ensure they have the same throws, neutral trim, etc. Jon

I am using this radio with the Jackal 50 from hangar 9. I need help on how to program the radio. I believe is channel 6 for the flaps and 7 is where the battery is. I need to now where the mix is? Thanks

Richard,

For the Jackal I will use the channels as follow:
1 = Aileron
2 = Elevator
3 = Throttle
4 = Rudder
5 = Retracts (use a Y for the battery, or you can use any channel you like for the batt.)
6 = Aileron (2nd Aileron) http://futabarc.com/faq/faq-7c-q739.html
7 = Flaps (You will need to use a Y connector with a channel reverser, then go and activate Flaperons and assign it to any switch you like)

Hope that helps,
Doug.

Richard - I have JR/Spektrum and Ch1, 2, 3 are different than Futaba. I thought you had a DX7.

If you have Flaps, separate from the Ailerons, you do not want to enable Flapperons. That is only designed to use Ailerons as both Flaps and Ailerons.

For receivers like yours, where the Ch7 port is also the Batt port, you can plug in a Y Harness to Ch7, and plug a servo into the other side.

I am not a big fan of Reversing Y Harnesses. The Reversed side goes out of Trim, often, and has to be readjusted.

Richard - Like DougV suggested, I like to put each Aileron servo on a separate channel and mix them. In your case, however, since you have both Flaps and Ailerons, you could connect each Aileron servo to a Y Harness plugged into the Aileron channel. You could connect the Right Flap servo to Ch6 and the Left Flap servo to Ch7. Your transmitter has various programs including several Programmable Mixes. You can use one of the Programmable Mixes with Ch6 as the Master and Ch7 as the Slave. This will allow you to use the Flap Knob to control the Flaps and it will also allow you to Reverse Ch7 so that it moves in the same direction as Ch6. You can match both Flap servos so that both Flaps move together evenly.

This link refers to the Addendum to the 7C Manual and talks about ways to control the Flaps with a Switch.

Pg 53 of the manual describes Programmable Mixes. You have 3 to choose from.
