Any experiences with the current range of Spektrum servos?

Hi,

I used to love the Spektrum DS821 servos that were supplied with the DX7.

The were re-badged JR's and were great for use in my planess. I've had dozens of them.

Now Spektrum are now selling a larger range which look like they are not made by JR.

I need to buy 5 servos somewhere equivalent to the DS821s and these new Spektrums are a good price locally but are they any good?

I'm not sure which Spektrum servo you're looking at but I'm currently using the A6030 on my 50cc Extra and really like their performance. It's more servo than the 821 but if the rest of the Spektrum servos behave like the A6030, I think they should work pretty well.

I was just looking for a standard sport level digital and the Spektrum A6000 looks like good value with 2BB and good torque.

Someone else told me they are made by Savox which is fine by me as i've been hearing good things about Savox Servos.

I range the shop to double check that had 5 in stock but he only had 4 so i ended up getting them plus an A6010 for the same price.

I look forward to giving them a try.

Dumb question but if you need equivilent of 821's why don't you just buy them?

The Spektrum and JR 821 are as you pointed out, the same servo and there's a lot of them floating around for sale due to their limited application suitability.

I think you'll be happy with them. I've also heard that they are actually made by Savox and that suits me fine.

I pretty much figure that this next plane I build will have them all the way around. Right now I'm just trying them on my Extra and the two I have are pretty quick, center nicely every time and have more than enough torque. I'll be using them again.
