JR 921 anad 123 battery

I have been trying to get my JR 921 to work with a NOBS 123 battery. When i plug it into the switch I have 5.9 volts, but when i connect the switch to the receiver the two orange lights light but the receiver does not work. If I substitute a 4.8 volt nicad the receiver lights brighter and works correctly. This receiver was working using the 123 system previously. Any assistance welcomed.

What happens when you plug the 123 directly into the Rx ??? I am using 123 with my 921 without any problems...Have you recharged the 123 pack then try it ???

I use LiFe with my 921. No problems.

This may sound simplistic but I have to ask ..................... I have NOBS a A123s and my charge plug and my balance plug are both JR connectors. There isn't a chance that you are plugging the balance connector into the receiver? In addition 5.9 volts is pretty low for a A123, you should probably charge it anyway.

I have LiFe by EP Buddy and Hobbico. Both have Balancing Taps that either fit GP or TP chatge adapters. I have never seen Balancing Taps the look like JR servo leads.

OK!! I have been enlightened. I have now seen the NoBS Universal Balancing Tap.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I charged up the battery until the charger said full charge. Got 6.2 volts the receiver still will not work. I am sending the battery in for service. I do not have a balance tap on this battern just onr three wire connector.
Thanks

CATA, is your single three wire connector the standard JR/Universal servo connector offered by Hangtime Hobbies? if so, does your switch have three wire (black, red, and white) going from the battery thru the switch to the receiver? The white wire from the switch to the receiver needs to be cut or otherwise removed per Hangtime Hobby instructions.

Also 6.2V is low for a fully charged 2 cell LiFe. Sounds like it may not be charging both cells properly.

I have a six of the NOBS LiFe batteries with the single connector. Mine are working great. 7.2V (3.6V/cell, balanced) when fully charged.

You have a problem
The cells top off at 3.6 volts per cell MINIMUM
under first light load the pack will settle at a slightly lower reading NEVER under 6.6 volts
Unless the pack has a self balancing device included you MUST have a balancing charger to get them setup correctly.
Your 6.1 reading can be any combination of numbers adding up to 6.2 -meaning you could have one cell not being charged correctly
You must have some method of reading and chaging these cells
I have setup and repaired many packs which were either hooked up incorrectly or charged incorrectly etc..
Buy a 4 CELLPRO4 charger as a minimum setup. and learn how to detect and balance cells
PS 3 wires from the pack provides individual cell reading AND charging.
check with a voltmeter reading from + to common and - to common. 3.6 each is correct

RE: JR 921 anad 123 battery

I agree i have a problem, I have a BC6DX 11 charger hooked to a balance buddy that allows each individual cell to be charged. The charger says each cell is fully charged. I am sending the batteries back to NObs batteries to have them checked.

Thanks
Charles
