Several responses mention “The Best” which is NOT something I asked. It don’t matter what anyone else thinks is the best because that decision is up to me and only me. I would never leave any decision up to some forum. Again the question in my original post is who sells the most transmitters. That’s it, pretty simple.

That depends where you are. In Europe Futaba is the number 1 selling brand. In the USA it could be Spektrum but thats certainly not a fact since no one has been able to present any sales data. Spektrum is certainly popular in the USA>
In other markets, JR is very popular and others again Multiplex is popular.

That's not "cheaptrum" Karl, it's "Rektum". People who combine beer coolers and electric razors and then call them r/c airplanes are hard-pressed to select the "best" of anything. Flame suit on.

RE: Who Sells More Transmitters

I would also agree it depends on where you are, At my field about five years ago it was Spektrum before that Hitec was very popular but now it's Airtronics.
We also still have a lot of Futaba 9C's at my field but rarely see the 10c andI have yet to see the Hitec Aurora at my site. Ask this question in a year or two
and could be a total different answer. I know the Futaba 8FG is a popular radio but I cant recall seeing any at my site, Many of the turbine and contest
guys switched from JR to Futaba 12FG and 14MZ in the last few years.

Not so sure about that, other brands such as Graupner and Multiplex and JETI are very strong in Europe. Spektrum is also gaining poplularity quite quickly. JR is virtually non-existant in Europe as it was previously marketed by Graupner who have gone to a different manufacturer.

Anyway the OP is in the states.

Ok let's see your data for European buyers .
Or get on a plane and go visit some retail/wholesale outlets
Your own preferrences really don't count.

I don't see any reason to doubt that Spektrum/JR is the best selling radio, mostly due to getting into the market first and the fact that nearly everyone makes bind and fly models that work with Spektrum/JR transmitters. I'm not real clear on exactly what the arrangement is between the two, but the impression I got was that JR started the Spektrum brand when it released its 2.4ghz technology. As for which is the best radio, pretty much all the other of the big 4 have a good reputation with Spektrum/JR not so great. That said, as long as you use a 6v battery pack and don't get one of the odd radios that can't stay bound you'll do fine with Spektrum too.
I have no idea whether or not this is true. However, before the big influx of 2.4GHx came about everywhere you looked it was Futaba - JR was just too expensive.

But the bigger question is why would you care? Who sells the most has never been a measure of anything except who has the biggest marketing budget.

Not really -
The comments about 'radios which always fail" are mostly from those who rely other inputs and/or those who really did not understand what really causes in flight problems
. Drivel is a good name for this stuff. It goes on n on- -

either way, there's no sales data to support a "spektrum out sells Brand x 10:1. Perhaps at one Hobby shop but I've seen tht shop often specialised in one distributors products which would mean the other brands are really just ordered in to satisfy customers they can't convince.
Tower is a big retailer and they move a lot of hobby goods. Does anyone have their sales data?

The assumption that one outsells another due to bind and fly planes is not factual. Its perception until a market survey says its fact.

Some folks just can't understand the question. Others try to change the question others simply have a problem with reading and comprehension.
In the USA Spekrum has the largest sales volume .
Doubt it ?
Check with any sales group/wholesalers ,hobby shops you may care to -

RE: Who Sells More Transmitters

Horizon has the most aggressive marketing to hobby shops with cut rate volume deals in the BNF products. Then, of course, you need Spektrum trannies to fly'em. So many hobby shops take advantage and stock up.

My LHS does the same even though the owner and most employees use Hitec or Futaba. Local power club numbering over 85 members is 90% Futaba, some Spektrum, JR and Hitec. Local glider club uses some Spektrum but more Hitec and Airtronics.

Horizon's BNF series generates a lot of Spektrum sales to newbies and members wanting some of the knock around BNF. Most stick to other brands for their serious birds and many newbies move onto other hobbies. The consignment case at the LHS is full of Spektrum discards.

The most volume sold does not indicate the best. But if it meets your needs and comfort level, dosen't matter what anyone else thinks.

Spektrum is used by many serious competitors wit expensive aircraft. It is the predominant radio in New Yirk State.
