PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
Hi.
I know this is a very common conversation, but I already "dig" in the net but can not find nothing for my radio. I have a FUTABA <span id=".reactRoot[1].:1:0:1:comment3131412581498_1306476.:0.:1.:0.:1.: 0.:0.:0:2" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">FP-8SGHP 512 PCM and I would like to know if it´s possible to convert to 2.4 and how?? Many thanks. André

|
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
If it has a module and is capable of PPM (FM) then it can be converted.

RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
On the radio manual say PCM(FM) and nothing more.Do I have a solution for this??

RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
You can gut a TM-8 module and convert it to FASST if you want. Requires some minor wiring expertise. Works through the trainer output. Probably not legal.

RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
The 8SG transmitter did not have a trainer output, nor were you able to choose PPM transmission. It was PCM512 only. We do not believe you can successfully convert this transmitter to 2.4 GHz operation.

RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
I already tried a feew things like, buy a Corona System 2.4 the module fits in the pins but it doesn´t transmits.
On this lasts days I have been searching but I realize thats going to allmost impossible to convert this radio, only if there are any roket scientist witha great idea..... |
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
Like what was said in another thread, if you are able to trace the PPM signal and solder a wire on the board to pull the signal. Plug and go will not happen.
|
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
I don´t have the "machinery" required to trace the PPM signal.....
|
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
What part of Bax's post don't folks understand[:@]
The radio in question does not have a trainer port for the simple reason there is no PPM signal available in the radio to feed to a trainer port;) These radios where PCM only. Pete |

RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
Trace the main board... Always could go Microstar conversion.
|
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
What!! Me get upset, nevvvver:)
BTW, your advise in regards to the radio is on the money, time to retire it;) Pete |
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
An Idea:
Get a spare 512 receiver and take out the decoder board. Run the 512 modulation in the transmitter through the decoder and produce the PWM outputs. Putting the outputs into a PWM frame is now trivial for a EE tinkerer. Hack a TM-8 module and you have FASST. PCM 512 was extremely slow. This is the reason that I skipped it and waited for 1024. But only you know why you want to save this transmitter. A neat MicroStar conversion would make more sense and already mentioned above. |
RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
That may be a good idea, but the problem is , I´m not very good whit electronics....I only want to save the radio beacause its nice and in the old times never fail, and now I have a lot more planes and a extra radio is always good.

RE: PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion
Pickup a used 9c and convert it using the corona unit you have.
