basic receiver set up

Is there a standard for connecting each type servo to a particular receiver channel? Is the throttle always a certain channel?Etc.

Yes, JR and Futaba is different.
Which do you have and someone can tell you the proper channel for each control surface.

On a futaba it is as follows:
Channel 1 - Aileron
Channel 2 - Elevator
Channel 3 - Throttle
Channel 4 - Rudder
Channel 5 - Gear
Channel 6 - Flaps
Channel 7 - Aux 1
Channel 8 - Aux 2

Thanks. Then there must be a mistake in the manuel. I finally found what it said, and it put "aileron" in #5. When I started the basic set up for 4 CH, it then sent me to aileron menu and said activate 5-6 or 6-7. I tried to activate 5-6 but flipped over to 6-7 every time. So I guess if I move aileron to #6, I'll be in business. Thanks, I'll try this in a little while.

Hawk,
You're misreading your manual.

BASIC setup, aileron is 1. this is for ANY model, aileron is always channel 1 for FUTABA.

Now.....USING AILERON DIFFERENTIAL *AND* a 5 channel receiver, the 2nd aileron goes on 5, and you have to change AIL2 to 5&6. ail. diff and a 6+ ch receiver, the second aileron goes in channel 7.

using flaperons with a 6+ channel recever, the second servo goes on channel 6; with a 5 channel, it goes on 5 and you have to change AIL2 to 5&6.

and so on.
