Help with an RC Transmitter...

I've got an older transmitter that I took when my father passed, although I don't know much about RC, I might be considering getting into it (Heli or Plane). I can't find any manuals with it, I do have the helicopter packed up somewhere in my garage, but never flown it before (don't know how). This thing has to be at least 10 years old.

If you can help with any of the following:
1.) Can this transmitter still be used today? If so, crystals? How? Does it need a new rechargable battery? Can I adapt it to another heli or plane?
2.) Where can I find ENGLISH manuals? It looks like this is a German company who made these, and where can I learn about all it's functions, and how to adjust them.
3.) If I don't get into the RC thing, are these things worth anything anymore?

Basicly any info will do.. here are pictures:

Cool. That thing must have cost a fortune. Does it still work? Have it checked at a hobby shop.

It's not worth much with todays sophisticated computer radios. In its day it was NICE!

It maybe usable but will need servicing and verification of the GOLD sticker criteria. Most likely batteries and a tune-up well over a hundred bucks I suspect, if its GOLD stickered!

New stuff is available for $100.00 all the way to $1800.00 or so. Your unit is probably comparable but with limitations to a $250.00 system of todays market.

You may contact Tony at Radio South www.radiosouthrc.com
He may be able to help you with that radio.
If nothing else, it is a memento of your father and is priceless.
