Broke Futaba Receiver...
 

I thought I got away with no damage to my radio gear after Sat.'s midair. But of course, when I got home, I noticed the servos wouldn't plug into the receiver any more (Futaba FP-R-148DF) and that it now rattled. I opened the case and found that the small circut card the servos plug into is broken away from the rest of the circitry. This receiver has only four flights on it! Rotten luck. Anyway, anybody had one break like this, and had it successfully repaired? I'm going to contact Futaba, maybee they'll have an attack of generosity and replace it for free.... I doubt it though because I'm going to tell them it was crashed. At least out LHS has plenty of Hi-Techs in stock.... should have new airplane up this weekend with any luck.

I wouldn't tell them that it crashed. Maybe when they open up the case and see all those parts rattling around, they'll think it just slipped through quality control that way. :D

I know how you feel though. I put a brand new G-23 engine on a giant PT-19 and on it's fifth flight (not anywhere near broken in), the elevator clevis broke and it came down absolutely vertical, destroying a brand new engine (not repairable). I always consider airplanes themselves replaceable, but I HATE to lose engines or radio equipment because that stuff can (should) be reusable for years and years.
Sort of puts a knot in your stomach and makes you want to throw up, doesn't it?
