Range testing methods

Hi folks!

Isn't it useless to compare the numbers of paces you get with the antenna collapsed, when you don't consider in which direction the Tx and the antenna in the plane is pointing during the test? My experience is that if you point a collapsed antenna at the spinner on a plane with a running engine, and an antenna that is routed along the fuse, you will end up with a significant loss in range compared to what you might experience if you conduct the test, from a 90 degree angel to the aircraft (antenna).

So, whats your range standing in front of a running gas engine pointing the collapsed antenna against the engine and not using a whip antenna?

I'm only getting 30 feet with my QPCM receiver, and have therefore decided to have it checked by Hitec.
