Getting NADA from Fut. 7CAP and Hitec Rcvr.

I just bought this from another RCU member: a used Zagi (my first electric plane) with a Hitec Micro 555. I have a Futaba 7CAP - which I understand should work w/ the Hitec, as both are negative shift. I bought a Hitec Dual Conversion crystal on Ch. 39 to match the 7CAP. Switched from PCM to PPM. Plugged the ESC into Ch. 3, the ailerons into 1 and 2 - and when I turn on the transmitter I get a little twitch out of the servos but nothing else. I pulled my Futaba receiver out of another plane and hooked it up similarly, switched back to PCM, and got perfect control. Am I missing something here or did I get a bum receiver??

I suspect you need to read the label on the 555 very carefully. They as all hitec Rx's with the exception of one shift selectable Supreme model are sold in both positive or negative shift versions. If it is a positive shift version of the 555 then it will not work as Futaba does not provide shift selectable Tx's.

also...I have to ask... when you switched from PCM to PPM, did you turn the Tx off and then backk on??

and as John says, Hitec can be either

Yep, you're right JohnBuckner. With TWO pairs of reading glasses I can finally read the terrible, small, run-together font on the label: RCD8600 JR/Air't. It's a positive shift model. Guess I'm screwed. Thanks for your help.
