Adding a Toggle switch??
Greetings all,
How do you install a toggle switch to a Radio? I'm building a detailed RC tugboat and i want a simple on/off toggle switch installed in a Radio to switch on the boat's lights, via an electronic receiver switch. How does one install a toggle switch in a radios to function as a separate channel? And can i use a 2ch having the switch perform as a 3rd? or will i need it to start out with one more than 2? I've looked high and low and I'm surprised really, that no one seems to make a basic stick 3 channel radio set up like this in 75mhz or 27mhz. Sorry for the noob question[sm=49_49.gif]... Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks! Jay |
RE: Adding a Toggle switch??
You can buy switch units that plug into a servo channel but the easiest method is to use a small servo to push/pull a switch on. You can have a switch that pulls/pushes the switch or make a servo wheel into a cam that pushes on a micro switch arm.
For simplicity, a small servo acting on a proper switch is the quickest solution.....unless you happen to find one of these electronic switches that suit RX's (not a normally stocked item and often limited by electrical load). I'm not knocking the electronic switches but you need to ensure you aren't overloading it. |

Thanks The Raven for the reply..
I basically have the way it's going to function, But I'm needing to know how to install a 3rd switch (simple toggle) on the TX itself, to control the servo or electronic RX switch. I can't find a stick TX that's 75mhz or 27mhz with a toggle already installed to do this. [&o] |

Can't just slap a switch in a 2 chanel uint and get three functions out of it. Go to the TOWER site and search for RAM products they used to make a little didgital switch that went on-off depending on where the input came from a particualar chanel |
RE: Adding a Toggle switch??
You'll need another channel on your transmitter. Unless you have a spare channel there isn't much you'll be able to do.
