607 vs 617 RX??

What are the differences between these two 7ch RX's??

RE: 607 vs 617 RX??

Guys,

Apparently there is a difference. See page 3 of this thread @ RCGroups:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=772341

I tried to translate the German forum link with little success, but it seems as though there is a delay in response between left and right aileron channels 1 & 6 on the 607fs. 1.5 msec is what is posted.

Anyone who speaks German and English that can give a precise translation?

IF it is true, Futaba lied or was lied to and is passing on the lie, plain and simple. I have too much invested in the 607fs receivers to be misled by the mfr.

IF it is true, I'm going to consider JR and send the 607fs rx back to Tower.

RE: 607 vs 617 RX??

Summary:

The sequence of servo signals on the R607 is 1-2-3-4-5-6-7
The sequence of servo signals on the R617 is 1-6-2-3-4-5-7

The delay between left Aileron (1), right Aileron (6) is noticeably shorter with the R617. Especially heli-pilots may benefit from this change - improved three servo swashplate setup.

RE: 607 vs 617 RX??

So basically you are complaining because there is no operational difference other than it works better? No changes in where a given servo will be plugged in or if it will work, just improvements at a slightly higher cost. Costs generated most likely by more expensive parts replacing obsolete stuff. As we say in the airline: Interchangeable in form, fit and function.

well, I am complaining because I was told there was no difference other than a minor component change by supplier(by Krysta). When there is an actual difference and it is nice to know so I can make an informed purchase of RX's in the future.

Ditto. I expect the truth the first time. I expect Futaba to be an above-board company honest in its dealings with its customers. Perhaps that is too much to ask.

RE: 607 vs 617 RX??

If I were able to assign ailerons to channels 1 and 2, with a 607 rec would that solve the delay issue?

I have (3) 607 recs and intend to use them on airplanes. With a 14mz TX a person can assign functions to whichever channel works for that set up.

I read the thread on RC Groups and I would be surprised if an average airplane pilot could tell the difference of 1.5 milliseconds. Maybe the heli guys can.

I don't see this as an issue for a large percentage of users.

RE: 607 vs 617 RX??

Most people don't even have a decent conception of how fast 1.5 milliseconds goes by. The average time it takes for a complete human blink is about 300 to 400 milliseconds or 3/10ths to 4/10ths of a second. Of course this is an average only and can differ from person to person. If you can truely detect 1.5 milliseconds it would qualify you as super-human.

According to my logic analyzer, the sequence is actually 7-6-1-2-3-4-5 with a slight overlap between 7 and 6 and 6 and 1. I can post a graph tonight.

So which one is better?? Why is the 617 $5.00 more??

RE: 607 vs 617 RX??

The 617 is a tad better due to the change in sequence but as I said before barely noticeable. they alledgely had a problem getting some of the parts for the 607 so they updated to currently available production parts and made the "improvement". the 617 will be the only unit produced until if/when a new design is released. All servo plugs will be installed in the same sequence in the Rx.
