sim or program cable??

Hi all I'm at my wits end today after receiving a HK T6A TX from Hobby king which is programed via a PC cable sold separately this I thought would be no problem as I have two flight sim cables that I think came with my stock Esky TX and they look exactly the same as the program cable on the HK website, problem is I cant get my new tx to work on my laptop it installs correctly(I think) but when I try to open up the programing software it says invalid port number?? I just really wanted to know if there is a difference between the sim cable and a program cable and if that could be the rout of the problem.

What port does the program cable use? Is it the same as the sim cable? Printer port? USB?

RE: sim or program cable??

I had numerous problems trying to get FMS to run my TX on my Vista equipped computer. The first thing that I learned was that, for my setup, I had to use a MONO plug, not a Stereo plug. A number of other programming things had to be done to get FMS to run, including installing Smart-pro-PO Plus; and a PORT simulation program. I'd try the cable solution first, though. Rich
