Will be on Strong Island in the AM... may be back in time, will PM or post if I make it back by midday
*edit* Went for a run past Tompkins Sq.. most of the basketball courts are occupied but I think weekend (late) mornings should be ok. It'd be nice to organize a big meet/race if we can guarantee space. I still don't have any cones but I did buy a 2.4GHz radio last night.. impulse buy

I can make it out there during the week... I dont have a touring car, but I'll bring my truck out there if the park is big enough.

This Saturday in Tompkins Sq anyone? East Village is a ghost town before 1pm on weekends, doubt we'd have trouble finding space.

Chazza, my transmitter is acting up a bit, if you don't mind, could you please bring the TX and crystals from your Slash and let me try it on my truck?
Also, what time should we meet at?

The meet-up was quite fun, the asphalt basketball courts make for some interesting driving, power-sliding around corners and such, but we need some markers to lay out a course, I'll bring some next time, flat discs not cones so we can just drive over them if needed and not crash into them.

Bump.
I'm new to this forum, but have had a few RC's. Figured i'd introduce myself here, and see if anybody is still going to the BJ's bash spot for some cold weather bashing?
I just picked up an mgt 8, and want to really stretch its legs, and it would be great to meet some other rc'ers.
Another spot that is good to go is Floyd Bennet Field - not near the football fields, but further back - right before the bridge to the rockaways. make a left into the park over there, and keep driving, you'll see a good bashing spot, and some makeshift bashing tracks. there's also an incredible onroad track back there - not sure if its all welcomed, or if you have to be a part of brooklyn hobby's club (they hold the permit for the track from what i understand) and ample concrete to run on besides the official track.. but strictly on road cars may have some problem - its the old airfield, but its not perfectly even anymore, and has large tufts of grass in between the cracks.

This time of year - pretty much any baseball field will do. Not too many stunts or bashing to be had, but you can definitely learn your cars strengths and weaknesses without getting yourself into too many expensive repairs... The BJ's spot is a bit more brutal on the car if you're still learning it.
The aforementioned floyd bennet park is also good. Where in BK are you?

I havent been in back of bjs since last summer. If u go WAY in the back youll find some nice hills and a bashin pit.
Im going bashin today, but not sure where. I may just go to Canarsie Park this afternoon. I hate bashing alone...so u guys are welcome to come out there if u have nowhere else to go.
If not where yall bashin at ???

Just came back from Canarsie Park and to my surprise, they are expanding the park and its under construction.....

It made for a great Bashing Spot....
Heres a quick vid i made so u can get an idea of whats there....takin with my phone so the quality is not too good.

Later i went to the other side of the hill....theres another bash area and a pond.
Canarsie Park is located near the Rocaway Pkwy exit off the belt, 2 exits from gateway mall (bj's).

wow - both of those spots look great!
If it dries up this weekend, i'm down to come out to one of them.
*edit - i may have missed it - but where exactly is that queens spot?
