RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

I wanted to get out there - but found out a project/christmas present that I am working on has to be completed by Nov 18th - I thought I had a little more time to complete it - so I spent all day Saturday and Sunday in my shop - didn't even do any yard work!! I'll try again for this weekend...... I have late meetings today (monday) and tomorow which means I "should" be able to leave work early on Wednesday and Thursday ("should" is the key word here). If that happens maybe I can get ahead of the completion time frame during the week....... Hey it is a plan!!

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

hey do you guys have any spare 5b parts:D
i just picked this up cheap. i think the diff has issues.
i need to tear it down and see why it locks up when you roll it.
only has 1/2 hour runtime on it.
the engine is fine on this one :D:D:D:D:D.

fourwheels0 11-11-2010 06:40 PM

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

sure enough tranny is totally gone.
layshaft gear smooth as can be lol
second gear has a couple chunks missing and the gears inside the diff are notchy.

oh'well time to hit e-bay lol.

huntinman 11-11-2010 10:18 PM

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

how, where, and what was this guy you got it from driving that buggy on to do that much dammage in only 1/2 of an hour of driving it?

fourwheels0 11-11-2010 10:26 PM

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

ya tell me about it.
he said he rolled it doing about 30mph. he must have not let off the gas to do that kind of damage is all i can think.
oh'ya he also broke the main chassis before he did this.
he put a new main chassis on then did this lol.
i love people that have no clue what they are doing:D:D:D:D:D.

huntinman 11-11-2010 10:52 PM

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

broke the chassis BEFOR he sheered those gears http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/75_75.gif , then repalced the whole chassis...... then proceded to destroy the gears in the diff. hhhmm let me seehttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...y/msn/idea.gif wait a minute, I know where he was driving it at, had to be a mine field, and he drove directly over a land minehttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ey/msn/lol.gif

fourwheels0 11-11-2010 11:29 PM

yep used to see guys like that come in to the hobby shop all the time! Dave or Mike would fix and rebuild their trucks and within a day or two they would be back in with it smashed up again!! The other thing that always got me was that they were willing to pay $28/hr to get their trucks fixed up again!!!

Nice looking buggy Mike! Sounds like you guys are running trucks though?

fourwheels0 11-12-2010 12:20 PM

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

joel ya some people just have no clue or don't care.

we are running trucks but both ernie and scott have buggies also.
so now we can run trucks or buggies lol.

slicks 11-12-2010 12:38 PM

RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread

I thought Scott had the buggy! Didn't know that he had both!

Well - I am going to try and get out there tomorrow (Saturday). I got a lot of work done last weekend and the past couple of nights so I think I can get out there for an hour or two. Looking forward to watching those things run. The only time I saw one run was at Scotts track and as you are aware just way too small an area for those beasts.

:):).........want to know what I think........this guy Dave knows exactly what you guys talk about and then puts it on "sale" on his site!! Think about it the timing is just too perfect :) You might want to check your vehicles to see if they are bugged!

It sure was cool watching those things run! I can see why you guys like them so much.

Mike that is a cool looking body.....go ahead and get it - I am sure that Ernie would be more than willing to "modify" it for you!! I thought the added touches he put on Scotts truck body were pretty cool!!

i took out both the set screw's on the diff case and the diff cup and it won't budge.

nevermind i got it off.

only issue is it has the small diff gears and i can't get them aaaarrrrrgggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
now i need a complete diff too.[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@].
