I used to use a fail safe and a throttle return spring but the fail safe wasn't very reliable so now I just use a trs. If I lose signal or the battery falls out it pulls the throttle back to an idle. Had a crystal go bad once and the trs saved the car too. So my go to is a trs rather than a failsafe simply because my fail safe kept failing me and shutting everything down. Anyway, that's how I do it. Your milage may vary. LOL

You can run that AA holder, but put some electrical tape around the batteries. The vibrations and shocks loosen the batteries, one falls out and run!
But I run a hump pack strapped into place. For some reason Hobao, when they built the Hyper 7.5, decided to use a open battery tray.
I setup my failsafe (2.4ghz) and it works. Returns the car back to idle when I loose comms between the TX and RX.
Yet to do a throttle return spring. That reminds me....
