They are practically the same car but the Nitro TC3 stands out from the RS4 3SS. The TC3 is better built and has stronger parts. You can also put in any engine you want (kit version) and comes with pro-line tires. I would have to say your statement is NOT completly true and in my opinion, the TC3 is a better overall car.

I mean like complete hardware sets for the whole car. Including every screw there is. I saw one that RC Screwz makes for the TC3 kit.....do you think that would work on the RTR?

CaNaDiAnRaCeR: They are not similiar cars, chassis layout, supspension are totally different from each other. The tc3 and ld3 are similiar.
The rs4 and street force are similiar. Heck, the street force can use most of the rs4 parts.

Cant say anything bad about both
The Rs4 type ss is a cheaper kit that comes with an engine I would say the Rs4 is geared to more begginer people who want a nitro touring car. I know many people buy the RS4 even though they are very advance im saying that its easier and cheaper to buy the Rs4 type ss than the NTC3.
On the other hand i can't say the the NTC3 is any worse. The ntc3 is more of a cometetive racer than the RS4 but it costs more and you have to go around seaching for an engine. Of course you could buy the RTR but i like kits better. You get to know your car better and also if there is something wrong i would know how to fix it. But many people would rather choose their own engine then getting a stock engine.
In short i would say you get more for your money if you buy the ntc3 while if you buy the RS4 you spend less money and you don't need to search for an engine. If you plan on buying one Go with what you want. If your a more expericenced driver and have owned more than one nitro car go with the ntc3. If this is going to be your first car go with the RS4 type ss.
Hopw it helps. bye

one word!(not really) "Mugen Prime 12 OH YEA" like ss but better it's lighter. some kid that works at the LHS has one but it weighs a ton i can smoke him easy but it looks nice. it's almost all blue aluminum except the upper deck it's graphite.

these are the 2 cars i debated before buying my NTC3, i almost got the ss but am glad i did not.
the associated kit is well planned out and is obviously more race designed as the ss is more out in front of your house design with the ocasional race n mind.
so depending how often you plan to be at a track, your decision is already made.

i gotta throw a voice in here for HPI... i dont have the SS but i have the EVO and i have owned a ntc3... with my experience i think the EVO is a better built all around car...
i said this in another post but i'll say it again because its a neat story for HPI haters... i just moved to waldorf and was trying out the LHS track, it was my EVO against 3 ntc3's... it was a nice mid fall 10 lap race and i came in second place, just a bumper length behind first and when i pulled my car off the track the other drivers asked me what i had done to the car, i willingly showed them all that was done was aftermarket anti roll bars...
i guess the moral of my story is it doesnt matter the differance between the cars..."in my opinion i like the HPI" but it has to do with chassis and engine tuning and how you can really drive the car... the HPI is far more than a parking lot basher than the rep they have aquired...
just my .02

RE: Cant say anything bad about both
Lets look at the RS4 SS -
No Aluminium Shocks
No Threaded Shocks
No CVD's
No steel or vented Brake Disc
No Stainless Steel Hinge Pins
No adjustable Akerman angle
No adjustable Camber
No adjustable Rear Toe in
No adjustable droop settings
No Aluminium Tuned Pipe
No True Ball Diffs
No adjustable Differentials
No Low CG
Hmmm..........The NTC3 has everyone of these items in the kit version. Oh and I almost forgot something. The NTC3 has one more thing that the RS4 doesnt have. A World Title Win. Actually, the RS4 doesnt even have any national, state, or regional race podium finishes. That means that out of about 2500 races in the past 2 years. The RS4 has never placed. Hmmmmm.....kinda tells u something, eh?

RE: rs4 3 ss or nitro tc3??what is the best??
the ss has one multiple titles in europe with the european team driver Robin Hammet at the wheel and it's only the american version of the SS that seems to be lacking. in europe and asia the ss kit is available with graphite upper deck F&R graphite shock towers and hot bodies aluminum tuned pipe and hot bodies aluminum threaded shocks stock. but the car does not have the 12rss it does require radio and engine. the kit sold in the states is more of a RTR-KIT if there was ever one. so to say the ss has never won a national title is false, the first time on the track the SS won the BRCA.(British Radio Car Association)

does not seem like anyone here is dissing HPI, hell i love HPI, have a savage SS and had an RS4 MT awhile ago, they have strong and weak points just like any other car out there, but if you want to get a race ready HPI go the route of the R-40

RE: rs4 3 ss or nitro tc3??what is the best??
I have an older Serpent 1/10 scale, I am trying to find out if there is someplace online that still sells the older parts, I'm not sure the model, but I think it was Impact 10?? I am looking to replace the body (it needs to be 9 3/8" wide) also looking for tires, and any technical information on tuning the 2 speed clutch. I should say that it is a 2 wheel drive car. If anyone knows of a dealer please advise. (I've tried to find Serpent on the net, but without knowing the model... kinda tough)
Enclosed are a few pix, any ideas, please reply. Thanks.
