kyosho inferno gt question
does anyone have one of these things? pictures of the car look good, although i notice some cheap looking phillips head screws. with a good engine, the fun potential could be high. if anyone has one, your feedback/experiences would be appreciated. thanks

RE: kyosho inferno gt question
I own one and Im looking for another. It had an EB modded OS30 with some taller gearing than stock thanks to HPI and the thing flew. It was doing about 65. Since then, Ive changed the engine to an onroad 21 and converted it to a single speed tranny with even taller gearing. I havent clocked it since the change but its a lot faster than it was b4. When it had the 30, I ran it into a wall full speed and ended up shredding the front bumper and bent the chassis and front dogbone but that was all the damamge. The chassis and dogbone was about 60 buck and I just left it without a bumper. I also took all the blue from everywhere an polished it to make it look more like a car than a buggy. Here are a few pics.

RE: kyosho inferno gt question
I found an Italian website that carries about 10 different bodies for it. They have a Ferrari F40 (which I ordered 3 of), a LeMans Porsche, BMW, and some other cars there. If I find it, I'll post it. There's also OFNA that has bodies for it. I think they make about 4 or 5 for it like a Viper, and a Mercedes and some other one. Total, there are about 18-20 different bodies for it. As a matter of fact, Kyosho is due to release an Aston Martin DB9 for it soon.

Ok, here is the link to that site with the bodies. I also ordered the Jaguar but they are out of stock but just as soon as they get some in, I will be getting it in. The car looks cartoony in pics because the bodies available from Kyosho dont look realistic enought. They are too tall for the lenght.

Whether it looks like a cartoon is your call. It is my favorite RC vehicle over my Savage, Mayhem, and AE 1/10 tourer. I run a Picco P3 .28 and taller gearing for about 62 mph. If you don't race, then this car will BURY any kind of fun you think you'd have with a 1/10 touring car. Run this baby anywhere you want. Bullet proof drivetrain. I've been places with guys trying to bash with 1/10 cars in a lot, and they've stopped and asked me a ton of questions.
My BMW-clad GT plus the rarely seen Calsonic, and the new Aston Martin is worthy of drool -- awesome. They all run any kind of 1/8 buggy wheel or tire setup...so choices are endless.
my low quality video, but you get the point:

Cool video even if it's low quality, at least I could see how fast it was and it seems like it handles well. I just went and checked out a few web sites with info on it and I'm very impressed! I like this thing, I just may have to get one.

Looks great! I like those foam tires, they must hook up nice. What's a good place on the internet to get hop ups and parts (and the car itself) for the Inferno GT, I noticed that Tower doesn't even carry them and that's who I usually use.

RE: kyosho inferno gt question
Philster,
I noticed that you extended the fuel line from the stock length. Did you notice any difference or improvement after running the longer fuel line and pressure line? Also, what tire and wheel combination do you have in the picture with the body off?
Thanks,

Tire/wheels in off-body shot: Ofna hard compound premounted foams. Highly recommended.
Fuel line: the stock line was too short for my liking. First, I could never see the fuel 'flowing' when it was so short. I have a Tiger Drive on my Picco, and just one zap of my starter would flood the engine if I didn't have a long fuel line. Long fuel line means good control of flow into carb.
Second, the oringinal fuel line was so short the fuel could back up into the tank with the tiniest backpressure in the line.
Pressure line: To get the pressure from the exhaust to the tank, the hose starts out going towards the rear of the car, but must enter the tank lid from the front of the car. It is much better to make the line extra long to have the tubing make smooth easy bends, to allow air to flow nicely.
I don't even use zip ties on my fuel or pressure line. Even the tiniest deformation hurts the flow of air or fuel. All I use is a cheap twist tie w/out any pressure at all to squeeze on anything.

Stock, she can do 45-48 and kiss 50 with taller tires. With 15/19 pinions 50-55. Aftermarket engines with 15/19, and taller tires can crack 60 mph..in a parking lot, without ever bottoming out.
Very usable 60 mph.
