Header leakage
hey guys. I ported my header once, and recently I ported it a little more because I saw a fuel mark. However, I think I over did it this time, because there is very little spent fuel leaking out of the header. It's enough to make the side of the engine dirty. Does this affect my performance, because I think the low end is a little slower. If I want to fix it, would RTV do it, or should I just buy a new header? thanks

RE: Header leakage
did you go through the side of the pipe? if not, just replace your gasket and clean off the sealing edge, then seal it with rtv, no big deal

RE: Header leakage
on side exhaust headers the opening on the header doesnt match to the opening on the engine block, opening this up (called porting or port matching) can gain some power

RE: Header leakage
Any leak (intake or outake) in the system will slow you down a little or give you bad idle and hard tuning. Ive ported/matched mine aswell with a dremel but i did it very carefully. A new exhaust gasket and sealant should be able to seal it but if it still leaks the header will be no good. Youll have to replace the header and be more careful with the porting.
I dipped my exhaust gasket in sealant and wiped off the excess near the exhaust hole part and installed it, perfect seal. Ive never had to take it out since
