Do you mean the old belt-drive Nitro RS4-2?

One of the things that you want to get is the light-weight aluminum fly wheel. A carbon top plate
and shock towers are available. Get these from HPI.

I'd recommend the carbon fiber upper deck and shock towers. I would advise against aluminum parts because despite looking nice, they add weight and don't really benefit performance much. In a crash they also won't fare very well, ending up bent where plastic would have either flexed and rebounded or broken and called for an inexpensive replacement.

As for drivetrain parts, I'd recommend a racing clutch and fiber brake to start.

Thanks guys! I will most def look into getting those parts! I have heard some negative things about the aluminum parts and im think carbon and graphite are much better improvements. As for shock towers would you be referring to these?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGNU4&P=7

and where can I order these parts? I know HPI has them but where else would you suggest? Also I would like to upgrade serovs if possiable...

Thanks again!

Also I get $20 of my order of $50 at tower right now...so something that adds up to that would be sweet! Thanks again

What model HPI do you have? This is in the nitro on-road section and the Pro 4 is an electric sedan, so your link won't work out.

The idea behind the machined aluminum fly wheel is reducing rotating weight.
The first things I would change are the clutch, and brake disk. Then consider
a good quality radio set.
The racing clutch will hold up much better than the stock one. The fiber disk
will increace stopping power greatly. Even a mid-range radio will give better
control and reliability than the stock unit. Reliabilty is the key in a car that can
go 50+ mph.

Hey, I don't mean to hijack this thread but I was thinking about upgrading my 1 speed transmission to 2 speed and needed some assistance.
I can't seem to figure out what I need to buy, do I need to purchase something like this:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBTB6

or is something like this enough?:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Nitro-RS4-3-Evo-...item5ad77c7751

or is there any other recommendations? Also what else could I upgrade without spending too much for better performance.

Thanks

Hey guys, i have been wanting to get an HPI RS4 for the longest time, and now i finally got one. The guy that i bought it from has an O.S. 15CV-X on it. I use my RC to race on tracks at times, but mostly use them to bash up and down the street with my neighbor. Is this engeine good for this kit, or is an .18 CV-R better?

Thank for your help!

@Vanka472-> Check my profile pics. It's tuned with PROPER rather than expensive parts...riped at open class shaft-driven car races...Check whick part you like and pm me for extra info...

@Lelolai -> I've modified the 18ss engine and YES it revs more than the tz and it is almost as powerful as an OS .18tz. Weighting less and reving higher makes it better for track use than the tz. So modify your current engine (exhaust, filters, proper glowplug, perfect adjustment and if you have the means inner modification -> ports/sleeve etc.)
