1/8 scale?

I would like to know peoples opinion on the 1/8th scales between the smp slide, MRX3, hpi proceed and the 950.... if you could list some pros and cons on each! And which car tops your list, thank you!

Krumpus - welcome to RCU. I recently picked up an SMP Slide and took a good hard look, and drive of each car. Here is what i found.

Run away from the Proceed screaming. It fell dead last in almost every category, and handled like a brick. I ran over a corner dot and actually broke an a arm. thing felt as if it was made of balsa.
The 950R that i drove was very very good. I would recommend it to anyone. Their were no negative thigns that i noticed.
I didnt drive an MRX3, but was able to look at one up close and speak to someone who owns one. Seemed to like it, but says that front susupension components are a little brittle, and the belts are a bit weak, but can be replaced with the ones from the serpent.
The SMP slide was by far the best. It did everything the serpent did, only a lil bit better. The rear suspension geometry was great, and allowed downforce without lowering ride height. It was also FAR more well designed than all the others. It is also the most expensive, and the hardest to get parts for.

Bottom line - if u are a pro racer, who can stay out of the boards, and is an expert driver, get the SMP, if you are just starting out with 8th scale, go with the Serpent. Just about as good, but a bit easier to drive, and easier to get parts for, if u wreck.

The SMP, MRX3, and 950 are all good cars. I have had the opportunity to drive each (but trusted friends and I don't own any 1/8th).

If you can get parts for the SMP, it is a very good car and have many upgrades for other cars which comes stock with the SMP. To my understanding, the SMP parts will be a bit more expensive that the MRX3 and 950.

The 950 felt good with my driving style. The MRX3 (to what I saw) is easier to tune (chassis) and the parts are cheaper. If I have to get a 1/8th, I probably get the MRX3.
