Nitro 3 Upper Deck

1 Attachment(s)
Hey,
I heard that this was a really good investment if you are going to race your rs4 which I will when it gets warm, so I am thinking about getting it. My question is how is instalation, any nessesary grinding for it to fit or any other problems. One more question is I heard you need to buy a flat batter pack to use the upperdeck, is this true because I just bought a hpi hump pack and dont want to replace. Any pics of it installed?
Thanks

you will need the flat pack. you shouldn't have to modify it any. it will stiffen the chassis up quite a bit and make the car drive better. Its worth the money.

i have a rs4 1, and i could still use my hump pack when i got my upper deck, and it really helps reduce flex.

yea i agree with cardriverx with the hump pack thing..i feel that with a hump pack you can get it to look way more clean and organized than with a flat pack.well heres a pic of my set up

I could be wrong but if you get the HPI graphite deck I dont think a hump pack will work because of the drop in the deck for the receiver. You want to keep the battery as low as possible, This will keep your center of gravity lower.

And I'm not so sure about that clean look ;)

thanks, I guess Ill sell my hump and buy a flat pack. Hows this one look: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFJT2&P=7 My hpi hump pack came with an adaptor for my reciever so I suppose this one will also since its hpi.
Thanks Again

oh yea i kind of over read that this was an HPI cf top deck.. well yea with this top deck a flat pack would have a better fit then a hump pack. the advantage of my set up(using hotbodies cf deck) is that all the weight of the electronics is distributed under the top deck. with the hpis you would have to put the rx ontop of the battery rising it up above the cf deck (which wont help with its lower center of gravity)
well all i am is a basher and dont really race at all. so the use of all this lower c.o.g really doesnt help me that much besides flip overs and good deap scratches under my super chassis.

and i really cant imagine a more cleaner look than i would have now(not the one in the pic but is verry close)

you can use a hump pack with the upper deck if oyu flip the rx plate around

RE: Nitro 3 Upper Deck

ok, josh. Do you have the hpi upper deck or the hot bodies one?

thanks man. Do you think it is worth it to really buy it or do you think I should buy shocks instead/
Thanks

RE: Nitro 3 Upper Deck

it is very worth it, it is not much lighter than stock but it is very stiff and helps reduce chassi flex when accl and when cornering, also with a good chassi there is preety much no flex and is rock solid, my freind did it and can't flex it at all:D

RE: Nitro 3 Upper Deck

Depending on what you want to do,the top deck is a great addition.....get the HPI one, install the flat pack....THEN,get the lower motor mounts for the engine and use a bump starter.,....mount the reciever pack on top of the battery as per the HPI insructions.....

Don't spend to much money on this car..if you really want to race, get the R40....

nitroracer20 01-17-2005 07:27 PM

RE: Nitro 3 Upper Deck

I was thinking about buying an r40 a while ago. It lowered in price to 244.00 so I might think about it, and it looks like a solid car.

I like the whole idea of having a car that is a under dog and when it wins(like at my track) it is cool to see a Type SS beating serpents and stuff:D

nitroracer20 01-18-2005 04:22 PM

RE: Nitro 3 Upper Deck

Thats true, but the r-40 is race ready and you dont need to put too much money in it to get good handling etc. Josh, you have the .12 xs correct? Well, it is rear exhaust and I was wondering if I got it for an r-40 where would it be the cheapest?(thinking in the future here)
Thanks
