Default Getting started in rock crawling

Now i have been into this hobby since i was about 14 or 15 and was looking at these crawlers/trailing and they interest me. Well what im trying to say is im thinking of doing one of the redcats just to get me started to make sure that i like it. Is this the best way to go for starting and making sure i like it? if i continue to like crawling/trailing then i was onto buy the scx or possibly the tamiyas then onto building my own as i already have some parts. Any input on these would be good have been looking at these for awhile now. Thank you

I just got my first rock crawler today, they had a used axial at my LHS for 150 with no radio. I think you should try to find a used one for around the same price as the redcat. Even though I have no experience with redcat, the axials have a ton of after market support and you can just upgrade if you like it. If you don't like it you can get most of your money back by saling it.

True, used is a good way to save and still get something good. If you can find a cheap ax10, go for it. Replacement and upgrade parts availability is excellent.

So just try and wait and find a used axial then?

That's what I would do. You could check market places on RC forums or ebay. Ebay can be a real pain with the $%^* snipers, though.

Both great. Tamiya has always been the king of scale, but the Axial is also amazing with a few extra details.

Both are excellent trucks. The scx10 has nice steel frame, the cr01 has sway bars(can be removed for more serious crawling) and diffs that can be locked and unlocked externally(you don't have to open the axle case).
