Default Winch on a stock Ascender bumper

I wanted to get a winch for the blazer but didn't want to go with a servo winch.
i kinda like to see the winch on the front. i had to bend the bar on the bumper while heating it hot enuff for the plastic to soften then kept it in place until it cooled down.

well i guess it looks ok. so it went out for a run and in no time at all a part is broken.
i had to fix the vertical roller on the fair lead.

so i guess i'll share my idea on how i'm going to go about a solution to this.
right under the winch body. above the mount plate there looks to be enuff room to add a plate that will extend out a little past the fair lead from the bottom. think i'm gonna hit the work bench soon and come up with a design for the gard plate.

Time to update this thread.
i finally found some time to get the winch back on the ascender. when i first put the winch on it was sticking out past the bumper a bit to much and i hit the fair lead breaking one of the rollers. well i think i found a solution. this is the first gen guard plate.

i get to test it out tomorrow. i hope it works. i also made a crappy land anchor from some spare aluminum. now that the winch is back on i know i'll need it. i'll post a pic or two tomorrow.

I took it to the lost trails park today and it did just what i wanted it to. totally protected the fair lead on the winch.
here's a pic of the ascender and the rock slide in the new mud hole.

even the land anchor i made worked great. had a awesome time running the tiny trucks today.

Hey thanks Mike. i worked out a deal with some one and am getting a scroll saw so now i can start to make more parts. i think i might make a 2nd gen that has a small bar from one side to the other under the winch and make the plate long enuff to go under the front bottom of the bumper just for strength.
