Lightbulb HG P402 1/10th scale Scaler from GearBest

Howdy people

Yesterday I received this HG P402 scaler from Gearbest.com, and I must say I'm quite impressed by it so far! It actually comes pretty close to a SCX10, and it actually has more features (such as a 2-speed gearbox) ..

Here is a link to the car:

And here is my unboxing of the car

I'll do some driving video & a review of it pretty soon

Chinese knock-off?, good luck finding parts, for the price though, it's pretty much disposable.

You know i think i might snag one up for my son. won't break my wallet and he could do some trailing with me. i have my trail truck set up to go slow so maybe he could learn on something like this and see what happens from there. if he don't get in to it i could always do something with it.

well i looked in to this a bit more and the shipping is kinda much so maybe i'll pass this time. i was interested when i saw the price but not knowing the site i went over to amazon and ebay and oh snap like 350 and up. not sure if it should be in the axial price range.

I'll try and shoot some driving footage tomorrow people And yes.. I hear the shipping costs are a bit steep in some parts of the world.. It's quite a big box.. that might be thw cause (and the fact there is a lipo in it)..
I'm really looking forward to seeing if the car holds up..

I'm curious too about how that motor/trans works. When you can, post up some closer pics of the motor/trans/drivetrain, both top and bottom chassis shots

That almost looks like the manual transmission off a 1:1 car

Yes.. but it's in sideways.. the axle at the bottom, is the output-drive for the rear...

Howdy people
Here is my first test-run with this HG P402 scaler from GearBest.com..
I'm actually really impressed by it's performance! A nice running car that proved itself to be durable.. I actually let it tumbel down a 40FT high hill 6 times.. and nothing broke..

For the price point, that seems like a fantastic rig! It looks good, and is quite capable and obviously fairly durable. Is there any aftermarket support for them? This maybe the perfect backup rig to have in the back seat of my truck on bashing days when the r1 and buggy break. There's nothing worse than being completely halted on a bash session by broken parts which has happened to me 3 times in the last week lol.

i took a closer look at it and i think it could use parts from other manufactures.
As i was looking at it i saw that it is 4 wheel drive but with 2 trannys. a tranny on each axle. i wonder if these could be converted to MOA's? like the night crawler conversion. shafty to moa.
i'm interested in seeing the (centering motor system). it looks like a third tranny and looks like there is a switch on the side.

It's pretty durable. That's for sure. Looks like some different tires would go a long way.

Howdy people

one more video for this thread.. Not really about the P406.. more about an upgrade for scalers in general..
I ordered up a set of TFL Racing wheels + tires for my brother's P402
