Possible Idea for a T/E-maxx crawler...
forget all about 3 and 4 link. What if you took a large bearing from a bike or elsewhere, the outer ring attached to the chassis, the inner ring mouted to the bulkheads. As long as the input on the diff is centered in the bearing, you would have 360 degree movement of the suspension. You still have all previous movement of the suspension and use of shocks. You could then use 2 shocks, straps, string, whatever to limit the degree of rotation.
I have not attempted this. just putting it out as an idea.

RE: Possible Idea for a T/E-maxx crawler...
it might work, but what you have to which i have acutally tried is
go to the local hard ware store, buy some both way hinges(get the smallest possible),then take everything off the chassis, cut the chassi with some type of wheel cutter of jigsaw, then mount the the hinge and make the chassis and clse as possilbe and mount the hardware(you have to drill holes).then tighten the screws all the way and go rock crawling i'll post a pic
