Not a crawler guy my self but I dont know this. Rock crawling is better electric. it is easer to control and stuff. spend moast of you time modding the suspention and junk so at least I wouldent want to have to fiddle with the nitro on top of that. Hope that helps. oh and as for a good truck, well beats me.

Clodbuster axles are appearently the best because theres steering, the motor, and gearbox all on the axle itself. Just get two of those (they cost like $50 each) and you could rig them up to a potato and have a crawler.

deffinitly electric. nitro just sucks all around for crawling. a good rig to start with is a clod buster, or a TLT-1.

TXT's are probably the best crawler out of the box, all you have to do is lock the diffs. & your crawling. E-Maxx's are okay too, although they require more work because your have to make them have solid axles.
