Default pinion gear

OK on a TLT w/ a lath motor what size pinion are yous usin fer rock crawlin??? I heard of 8 tooth pinions but dont know if its to low. I read of someone saying to start off w/ a 12 tooth , but I dunno. I dont wanna buy a bunch of em and swith em around to find out so I figured someone here would know what works!! BTW I gotta pede trans thats goin in it (dont know if it makes any differance) Thanks

like you said you dont want to try all sorts of them but you might want to
to find you personal seting i would try 8 and 9 thats what i would personaly put

Where are you guys finding 8 & 9 tooth pinions to fit the TLT? The smallest I've seen in 48 pitch standard or metric is 12t.

I think you just don't know what you're talking about. I don't think it's physically possible to make a 48 pitch gear smaller than 10 teeth that will fit on a 1/8" motor shaft.

I dunno , Im no expert but I think the pitch of the gear is the size of the teeth (like the diff between fine and corse thread screws) & of coarse the # 9 being how many teeth are actually on the gear.. Like I said I dunno , just guessin
